New Smyrna Beach, Florida (February 25, 2016) - Travis Pastrana is probably better known today as the Nitro Circus Ringleader, Action Sports Icon and multi-time X Games Gold medal winner.
But before that, he was a dominant force on the amateur motocross scene and won the 2000 AMA 125 Motocross and 2001 125 East Supercross championships. So he knows what it is like to travel around the country to compete in the best amateur motocross events to hone the skills necessary to become a champion. So it was flattering to hear Pastrana's feedback on the JuniorMotoX concept.
"Supercross has always been my favorite form of racing. More technical courses, more intense racing and everything you do on the course can be seen from everyone in the stands. This makes it a big challenge when riders turn pro." Pastrana said. "I really like how much riding time JuniorMotoX will give to the riders and think it's a huge and much needed stepping stone to have an event like this before moving into the pro ranks. Wish they had this when I was an amateur."
The Lucas Oil JuniorMotoX will bring amateur racing to a new level with a Supercross style course that is nearly 2,000 feet long featuring some of the best dirt on earth. Jerry Masterpool will provide input on track design, which will include a separate lane featuring more challenging obstacles for the more experienced riders/classes. The event will also feature a live webcast of the Friday qualifiers and Saturday night main events, plus a feature show on MAVTV.
