Norwalk, Ohio (July 5, 2015) - Larry Morgan breezed to a first-round victory against Vieri Gaines at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals today in Norwalk. Morgan's FireAde Camaro, which qualified fourth on Saturday night, posted a pass of 6.578 seconds at 212.19 mph as Gaines coasted across the finish line at 102.49 mph.

Morgan faced Jason Line in the second round of eliminations, and his day at the track ended there. Line left the starting line first and lit the win light, 6.583 at 210.73 mph to 6.583 at 210.73 mph.

"It was good winning the first round," Morgan said. "We were so optimistic on the setup going into the second round because the track was so bad -- the heat and the surface were horrible. We made a good choice on what we did; it just killed the driver the way we had to do it.

"We softened the car up, slipped the clutch, and when you let the clutch out and it doesn't go anywhere it makes the driver look bad," Morgan said. "But I'd rather do that than shake. We had a good day, though. It is what it is."

With Norwalk in the rearview mirror, Morgan is looking forward to competing next weekend at the Lucas Oil Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Chicago.

"I'm excited about going up there," Morgan said. "I hope the weather will be good."
