LAKE FOREST, CA (August 6, 2014) - Some race weekends just make you shake your head and wonder. For Team Renezeder, it was last weekend, the night races at Glen Helen, Aug 1-2, 2014. Two Podiums and two DNF's, had Renezeder and the crew shaking their heads wondering why?
The weekend started out well with a day of practice and qualifying for both truck, each showing great times. Renezeder qualified second in Pro-4 and fourth in Pro-2 for Friday's races. After a hot muggy day, it cooled down just in time for the Pro-4 race on Friday evening. Renezeder battled to overtake Kyle LeDuc, and was closing in on Kyle in Lap 12, when the transmission suddenly exploded, ending Renezeder's hopes to catch LeDuc. The Pro-2 race went a lot better, Renezeder chased Deegan but it was a tough battle with the other Pro-2 drivers all trying for the same. At the white flag it was a battle with Deegan, Menzies and Hart with Renezeder claiming the #2 podium.
On Saturday, both trucks were fast during qualifying, with the Pro-4 qualifying second and the Pro-2 qualifying third. The rain let up just in time for the races to begin. The Pro-4 drivers were again all trying to collect the $2500. bounty on Kyle LeDuc, and at one point it looked like Renezeder would be collecting, but after a caution and restart, Kyle made an aggressive move and made it past Renezeder, who came in a close second, getting the fastest lap trophy. The last race of the weekend was the Pro-2's which ended up being a very short race for Renezeder. At turn one contact resulted in a pile-up, with Renezeder unable to restart.
On a lighter note, Team Renezeder hosted USA Water Polo out at the track for a day at the races. Renezeder, who is on the 45's Masters National All-American Water Polo team, who have won the national championship for the last two years, wanted to show the Olympians a different type of sport. They all had a great time and were very impressed with Lucas Oil off Road racing. Next race-Vegas Sept 19 - 20, 2014.
