Tenacity and Toughness Carry Brian Scott and Shore Lodge Team to Top-10 Finish
Brian Scott and the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet team started the Sta-Green 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the fifth position. Once the initial green flag waved over the Magic Mile, Scott would remain a top-10 contender the entire 200 laps. After getting caught up in a multi-car wreck on lap 106, crew chief Phil Gould called for repairs to the damaged left-front fender and left-side door in front of the number. Because only nine cars were on the lead lap at the time, Scott was able to return to action and remain in the top-10 running order. From the lap 112 restart until the checkered flag waved, Scott would hold off un-damaged cars to maintain his track position. On lap 140, Gould called Scott to pit road for fuel only on a pit stop, which restarted them in fifth place. From there, Scott only dropped two positions and earned an impressive seventh place result in his damaged Chevrolet Camaro. He ranks fifth in the driver's points standings as the series heads to Chicagoland Speedway this coming weekend.
Start - 5th Finish - 7th Laps Led - 0 Points Position - 5th
Brian Scott Quotes: "That was one heck of race we had to earn this top-10 finish. We started out great, the car was just a little loose in the middle of the turns and we were looking to see what we had for them at the end. The wreck was my fault as I had a good run and should've given more room, but we talked and all is good. Once the Shore Lodge crew repaired the car, I couldn't believe how good it still handled. We toughed it out from there and earned another top-10 for this team. I can't say enough about how hard they worked today, and all weekend, to be part of this finish."
Ty Dillon Finishes 12th in Sta-Green 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway
Ty Dillon drove the No. 3 WESCO Chevrolet Camaro to a 12th-place finish Saturday afternoon in Loudon, New Hampshire. The No. 3 team qualified 19th, but was forced to start from the rear because they made changes under the hood after qualifying. Dillon quickly wheeled his No. 3 Camaro inside the top-20 once the green flag dropped, where he raced for the majority of the day. He cracked the top-10 on lap 106, but battled a loose-handling race car afterwards keeping him from moving up farther in the running order. The Danny Stockman-led team was able to gain track position in the end by pitting for two tires and out-racing cars that were off pit sequence. Dillon crossed the finish line 12th. He was the fourth Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate to finish and remains fourth in the driver point standings.
Start -19th Finish -12th Laps Led -0 Points - 4th
Ty Dillon Quote:
"We battled the entire race. I think we had a pretty good attitude, overall, for the hand we were dealt. I'm disappointed with the finish and the race we ran, but we'll take what we can get and move on. It's definitely a learning experience for all of us."
Mid-Race Incident Relegates Paul Menard to a 19th-Place Finish
Paul Menard drove Richard Childress Racing's No. 33 Libman/Menards Chevrolet Camaro to a 19th-place finish at Saturday's 200-lap event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Eau Claire, Wis., driver started seventh and raced in the top 10 for 100 laps of competition. On lap 102, Menard was collected in an on-track incident which brought out the caution. The Libman/Menards Chevy suffered body damage including the right-rear quarter panel, bumper and deck lid. Crew chief Nick Harrison called Menard down pit road several times to repair damage while maintaining lead lap status. The Richard Childress Racing team was able to restart on lap 107 in the 21st-position before being collected in another incident when the green flag waved. After several more pit stops for further damage repair, the No. 27 Libman/Menards driver was able to get back to racing in the 21st-position, one lap down. Menard would continue competing to try and salvage the day and ended up finishing in the 19th-position. Up next for Menard in the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro is the Saturday Nationwide race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 26.
Start - 7th Finish - 19th Laps Led - 0 Points - N/A
PAUL MENARD QUOTE:
"We had a fast Libman/Menards Chevy for today's race. I hate our good run was ended early, but I'm glad we could salvage a decent finish. These guys work hard and bring me a fast car every week. We'll just look ahead to Indy now."
Brendan Gaughan Finishes 16th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway
Brendan Gaughan and the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet qualified 11th for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Sta-Green 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. During the lap-14 caution, Gaughan visited pit road to repair right-side damage he received after brushing the wall. The Las Vegas-native restarted in the 28th-position on lap 17 and battled the field for the rest of the 200-lap event. Gaughan crossed the line in 16th place. The No. 62 Richard Childress Racing team remains seventh in the driver point standings as the Nationwide Series heads to the stand-alone event at Chicagoland Speedway next Saturday night.
Start - 11th Finish - 16th Laps Led - 0 Points - 7th
BRENDAN GAUGHAN QUOTE:
"It was just one of those days for the South Point Hotel & Casino team. We had help getting into the wall early in the race and had damage. This Richard Childress Racing group never gives up; they repaired my Chevrolet and got me back out on track to finish the day. Can't say enough about how hard they work."
