Prior to Texas Motor Speedway's inaugural season in 1997, Richard Childress, a former driver in NASCAR's top division, earned a pair of top-10 finishes at the now defunct Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas. RCR NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams boast a 20.5 average starting position, a 16.3 average finishing position and have completed 24,925 of the 25,751 contested laps (96.8 percent) with 139 laps led at the 1.5-mile Fort Worth-based race track.
RCR in the NSCS... In 2,399 Sprint Cup Series starts dating back to 1969, RCR has amassed 44 pole awards, 105 wins, 450 top-five finishes and 952 top-10 finishes, with an average starting position of 17.8 and an average finishing position of 15.8. RCR has earned 15 total championships (six Sprint Cup Series championships with Earnhardt in 1986, '87, '90,'91, '93 and '94, six NASCAR Nationwide Series titles, two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series titles and one ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards title) and was the first organization to win titles in NASCAR's three national series.

The Season So Far... Dillon started off his rookie campaign in the Sprint Cup Series with a pole award in the 56th running of the Daytona 500, making him the youngest polesitter in Daytona International Speedway history in the Sprint Cup Series. He earned a ninth-place finish in the "Great American Race." From there, the Series traveled to Phoenix International Raceway where Dillon finished 24th, and Las Vegas Motor Speedway where he posted a 16th-place finish. "I've been to Texas Motor Speedway a few times. I was fast there in a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car last year, so I can't wait to get there. Our Las Vegas Motor Speedway run should lay over to Texas Motor Speedway for qualifying and hopefully, we can better ourselves for the race. It's a fast, rough track and I enjoy those."
How does Texas Motor Speedway compare to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and other 1.5-mile tracks?
"Each mile-and-a-half track has a little bit of a different character. Texas Motor Speedway is similar to Las Vegas Motor Speedway with less banking, but you're still carrying tons of speed. Turns three and four at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway are very similar. Turns one and two at Las Vegas have more banking."
This Week's Quaker State/Menards Chevrolet at Texas Motor Speedway... Paul Menard will pilot chassis No. 454 this weekend at the 1.5-mile oval in Ft. Worth, Texas. This Chevrolet SS was last used at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this year where Menard scored a third-place finish.
Through the Career... Menard is making his 261st-career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start this Sunday. During that span, the native of Eau Claire, Wisc. has one victory, 11 top-five and 37 top-10 finishes to his credit. He also has one Pole Award.

This Week's Caterpillar Chevrolet SS at Texas Motor Speedway... Ryan Newman will drive chassis No. 456 in Sunday's Duck Commander 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Chassis No. 456 was raced on March 9 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway where Newman qualified 10th and finished seventh.
Texas Two Step... Newman is looking to capture his second-career victory at the 1.5-mile quad-oval when he makes his 22nd NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at the Fort Worth, Texas venue. "Texas Motor Speedway is a good track race-wise. It provides drivers with a lot of options. You can move around and find a line that your car responds to and it's really versatile so you can get around somebody. It's also fast- really fast - so aero is also an important part of it and it's nice to have that ability to move around. With it being one of the older tracks on the circuit asphalt-wise, the racing will be good for both the drivers and the fans watching in the stands and on television."
What is your opinion on lowering the horsepower of Cup engines?
"I do not want to see our horsepower lowered. It's nice to have the driver play an important part in making the race car handle. That is what the right foot is for. If we start holding it wide open, then anybody can come out here and drive. Instead of lowering horsepower, I believe we should take the downforce off the car so it requires the driver to pedal the car. To me, it's like watching drag racing. The best drag races are when it's a pedal fest ... the guys are spinning and smoking the tires. I think we should have that ability too. I hope nothing changes."

This Week's Shore Lodge Chevrolet at Texas Motor Speedway... Brian Scott and his No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet Camaro will race chassis No. 129 this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Scott finished seventh in the team's first intermediate race this season and has a solid notebook on the series most popular type of race track heading into the 1.5-mile track. This chassis has finished 12th or better in four out of five previous races it has been utilized. Scott earned an eighth-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway last November.
Scott at Texas Motor Speedway... Scott will be making his ninth start this weekend in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 300. Rearview Mirror... Brian Scott and his No. 2 Anderson's Maple Syrup Chevrolet Camaro qualified ninth for the TREATMYCLOT.com 300 at Auto Club Speedway on March 22. Scott was a contender for the race win early on as he battled inside the top 10. The Anderson's Maple Syrup Chevrolet battled with the front-running contenders, but lost track position as tight conditions through the corners continued. Scott fought hard for the remainder of the race and collected a 12th-place finish.
BRIAN SCOTT QUOTES:
What are your thoughts about racing at Texas Motor Speedway?
"Texas is a great track that has a lot of character. It's kind of progressing into an Atlanta. You have a ton of tire fall off, the grip goes away, and you need a good handling Camaro, but it's also really fast. It's an interesting place. I normally am fast there, but there are certain parts of Texas where the track and I haven't connected. I'm always excited about it, it's a fun race track. You can kind of race anywhere and since we were strong in Las Vegas, we're excited to go to Texas."
How much did you learn at Las Vegas (1.5-mile track) that you can carry over to Texas Motor Speedway?
"You always have little tweaks, but for the most part you kind of get a mile and a half program you like, settle in on it and not make a lot changes. You have to change for bumps and tires and travels a little bit, but it all stays pretty close."
This Week's WESCO Chevrolet at Auto Club Speedway... Ty Dillon will pilot chassis No. 136 this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, the second time the chassis is scheduled to race in 2014. Dillon previously piloted No. 136 to an 11th-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, after qualifying on the pole. The chassis was raced last November at TMS by Austin Dillon and finished fifth.
Dillon at Texas Motor Speedway... Last November Dillon notched his third-career victory in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and the 100th overall victory for Richard Childress Racing's legendary No. 3 car, after leading 130 of 147 laps. In addition to one victory in the Lone Star State, Dillon has three top fives and one top-10 finish. He also made one Nationwide Series start last fall in the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro and finished 12th.
Stockman and the Lone Star State... Although he has never recorded a victory at Texas Motor Speedway, crew chief Danny Stockman has finished inside the top-five four of the last six times he's been on top of the pit box. Stockman, a two-time championship winning crew chief with RCR (2011 NCWTS, 2013 NNS), is in his fourth full-time season. This is his first full season with driver Ty Dillon.

What's your points?... Dillon remaind third in the Nationwide Series driver point standings, trailing the leaders by only six points. Also competing for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year title, Dillon currently sits in second place with 64 points - three points behind leader Chase Elliott.

Danny and I have worked really well together in the first few races, so we should be able to pick up where I left off last November and be a contender for the win."

You have finished inside the top-five four of the last six times at TMS, what is it about the track you like the most?
"Those are pretty cool numbers when you think about it. It's definitely one of my favorite race tracks. It goes along with the theme 'everything is bigger in Texas' and we're looking forward to going there. I think our 1.5-mile program is one of the top in the sport. Having a driver that is comfortable at that sort of track makes it fun to compete at a place like Texas Motor Speedway."
This Week's South Point Hotel & Casino Chevrolet at Texas Motor Speedway... Brendan Gaughan will drive chassis No. 130 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway. This chassis was previously piloted at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March. In 2013, chassis No. 130 was utilized by Kevin Harvick at Chicagoland Speedway in September and by Paul Menard at Kansas Speedway in October, who both brought home top-10 finishes.
Lone Star State Stats... The South Point Hotel & Casino driver will make his fifth start at Texas Motor Speedway in the Nationwide Series Friday night. Gaughan has had success at the track in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series; he holds a two-year unbeaten streak of four consecutive victories in 2002 and 2003 and leading 207 laps in 19 starts. He's also accrued nine top five and nine top-10 finishes.

"You can always learn from 1.5-mile tracks. Our goal for Texas is to unload off the hauler and be really good, so we have plenty of time to fine tune our Chevrolet. We are going to take a little different setup then what we had at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. During the race in Vegas we needed a lot of changes during the first run. After we were able to come in and make some adjustments, the car was very fast and that is what we want to start the weekend off with at Texas."
